G.H.MUMM REVISITS
THE CHAMPAGNE SABRE RITUAL

The House of G.H.MUMM wanted to pay homage to the ceremonial of sabrage, a unique experience.
With great respect for the traditions, Le Sabre G.H.MUMM by Patrick Jouin iD allies the functionality of the object with an elegant and masculine design.

After the neck of the bottle has been laid bare, the cork is expelled with the back of the blade, with a spectacular, masterly gesture.
Precautions for safe use
Precautions for safe use
Only an adult should use the sabre to open a champagne bottle, and we recommend that gloves and protective glasses be worn in case splinters of glass are thrown off.

  • Remove the cap so that the cork and wire cage appear (without opening them) and the glass of the neck is bare.
  • Hold the bottle firmly at a slant (cork end up), pointing in a safe direction. Make sure no one is in line with the trajectory of the neck and cork.
  • Lay the blade flat on the middle of the bottle.
  • With a sweeping movement and without excessive violence or speed, slide the flat blade along the glass from the middle of the bottle towards the cork, keeping it in contact with the bottle.
  • The hard shock of the blade against the swelling of the neck will cause the latter to break off cleanly.
  • The G.H.MUMM sabre has been designed for opening a bottle of G.H.MUMM champagne, and must only be used for this purpose. Any other use of the sabre is highly inadvisable.
G.H.MUMM cannot be held responsible for the consequences of any incorrect usage.
Whenever the sabre is to be transported, it must imperatively be kept inside its casket.
